Emma Gersch

Artistic Director

Following training at the University of Hull and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and a few years working as an actress, Emma discovered her real passion in directing, actor coaching and ensemble building. Directing credits include radical reinventions of Greek Classics, including ‘Agamemnon: Stripped, Re-Loaded, Re-Told’ (Bath, BAC), Complex: Electra (Camden People’s Theatre), ‘Mummies and Daddies – Medea Re-visited’ (Bath), ‘Orestes Re-Examined’ (South-West Prison Tour, & the Southwark Playhouse), and Hipploytus: Re-Framed (Bath). Emma is a regular director at the renowned Minack Theatre in Cornwall, where credits include ‘Hamlet’, ‘The Comedy of Errors’ (USA and Canada tour), ‘West Side Story’, ‘Twelfth Night’ for Moving Stories, which won the Minack Trophy for best production 2012, ‘The Tempest’,‘The Winter’s Tale’ and most recently 'Romeo and Juliet' which also enjoyed a run at the St Albans Roman Theatre. Other directing credits include ‘Reconnecting…’ a live zoom play, ‘Sonnet Sunday’ at Shakespeare’s Globe, ‘Vanessa and Virginia’ (Riverside Studios and European Tour), ‘Judith’ by Howard Barker, (Etcetera Theatre), ‘The Bald Prima Donna’ (Kings Head Theatre and UK Tour) and ‘The Tempest’ (Franklin Stage Company, New York). As a Practitioner and Academic, Emma is a member of the Higher Education Faculty at Shakespeare's Globe, has taught and directed at Bath Spa University, Mountview, Arts Ed, Alra and Lamda, The Growing Studio and is currently the acting tutor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama where she directs the annual Graduate Showcase.
