The Story
Heather and Carla haven’t spoken since school. Their paths diverged long ago. But when Heather reaches out for an awkward reunion in a quiet café, she brings more than just nostalgia—she presents Carla with an opportunity, an opportunity that she can’t really afford to refuse.
As their meeting unfolds, buried childhood trauma explodes, unravelling secrets and pushing both women to the edge.
Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s Olivier Award-winning writing delivers a sharp, psychological thriller packed with dark humour, tension, and unpredictable twists, exploring the lasting scars left by our past.

Director Kelly Hotten thoughts on the play:
"Having first read The Wasp 8 years ago, I was immediately captivated by its dark humour, complex characters, and unsettling yet wickedly funny story. When Fiona and Kitty invited me to direct, I revisited the play and found it even more resonant—especially its profound exploration of childhood trauma and how the past can unexpectedly resurface, much like my own recent reunion with old school friends. Motherhood has also deepened my appreciation for the play’s themes of kindness, empathy, and the cyclical nature of human behaviour. I am excited for audiences to engage with the play’s provocative questions about morality, truth, and empathy—ensuring Heather and Carla linger in the mind long after the final chilling moment."
