The Tempest
By William Shakespeare
Prospero, Duke of Milan, has been exiled by his own brother Antonio to a remote and enchanted island, along with his young daughter Miranda. Many years later, Prospero puts his magical talents to use in raising a storm and wrecking his brother’s ship to bring him back for his reckoning.
Woven with a spirit of magic and the supernatural, The Tempest is Shakespeare’s late great masterpiece of forgiveness, generosity and enlightenment. This fresh and vibrant production is set in modern times, and promises to enchant with original music, vivid design and unforgettable performances. Join us on this strange castaway island and meet the spirits who meddle with magic, play with power and divert destinies.
‘The Tempest’ is the perfect play for the Minack, and indeed was the first show ever to be performed here in 1932. Moving Stories is thrilled to be invited to re-imagine and re-awaken this magical play for the 2014 audience. From the creative team that brought ‘Twelfth Night’ to the Minack (winner of Minack trophy for best production 2012), Moving Stories is proud to present Shakespeare’s late great play, ‘The Tempest’. The Minack provides the perfect backdrop for this tale of revenge and forgiveness, set on Prospero’s ‘rich and strange’ island. Moving Stories fresh and vibrant production promises to enchant with live original music, vivid design and unforgettable performances.
